Highlands sceneryThe University of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland Foundation (UHISF) was established to promote higher education, particularly among geographically dispersed populations, and to support programs and institutions which bring education to the broadest range of people possible.

As an independent charity, the UHISF fundraises from individuals, companies and foundations in a manner that allows US donors to benefit from charitable deductions available to US taxpayers.

The Board of Directors is in control of monies received, ensuring that all funds granted are used solely in furtherance of the Foundation's charitable and educational purposes.

One institution which fulfills this remit is the University of the Highlands and Islands.
